We have seen real estate prices rise dramatically over the past 20 years to the point that the average price for a detached home in the city of Toronto is over 1.2 million at the time of writing this article. This puts a great strain on buyers looking to buy in this market.
Bathurst Manor is a well kept secret in the market up Bathurst Street around Sheppard Ave. A quiet family neighbourhood with a great deal of green space and beautiful tree lined streets was originally full of ranch style bungalows and regular bungalows on large lots. Over the years we have seen a change where some of those bungalows have been torn down for larger 2 story houses. The prices have risen over time but it is a neighbourhood in Toronto that you can buy a home for around the mid to high $800,000 range. This is not the place for 1st time buyers but is an option for those young families living in small homes, townhouses and condos that are now looking to expand into a larger homes and even the perfect family sized lots.
For those looking to buy real estate it can be a frustrating time with multiple offers and bidding wars for many of the properties out there. We are seeing over paying for their home just to be in the neighbourhood that they are looking for. As buyers today we have to expand our horizons of the neighbourhood we are looking for and the type of property we want. When you are looking for a new house set your budget conservatively as we may see interests rates rise and stick to that budget. Figure out your needs and some of your wants in the types of houses and research the entire city choosing neighbourhoods that fit your needs. Unfortunately, in this time and age you may lose out on some of your wants you are looking for in a house.
This is where I find Bathurst Manor is a very strong neighbourhood for those moving up in their property. Great schools top the list, all your amenities minutes away, TTC (very close to the Sheppard Subway Line) throughout the neighbourhood and close to highway 401 for those quick escapes. Bathurst Manor is still close to downtown less than a half hour drive but can also be reached by subway quickly. Being so close to major streets you really do not have to go far for all your buying needs.
I feel the most desirable aspect of Bathurst Manor is the large lots. The average size is about 50 ft. wide and 120 deep. You also have the option to still buy older homes to tear down and build that dreamhome. But, that is not necessary in this area as we have seen the upkeep of the houses and properties done with loving care. Just take a drive through the area to see what I am talking about. Manicured lots with beautiful gardens on tree lined streets makes Bathurst Manor a neighbourhood many are proud to call home.
